Jay Eichenlaub
Jay Eichenlaub, 54, of Brazoria, Texas, passed away peacefully Jan. 12 at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
Jay was born in Butler to Carol “Pooch” and Ronald “Ike” Eichenlaub, who both preceded him in death. He was the middle child between Lori Eichenlaub Duffy (Michael) and Jenna Eichenlaub.
Jay graduated from the University of Cincinnati as a nuclear engineer. Along the way, he met the love of his life while working as an intern at the Cook Nuclear Plant in Michigan. He married Ingrid Wolf Eichenlaub Aug. 25, 1984.
After Jay finished school in 1985, he took a job at the STP Nuclear Operating Co. He was part of the initial startup of the two plants. Over Jay's 30-year career, he held an operational license, worked as reactor engineer and was recently promoted to supervisor of the Reactor and Fuel of Engineering section. He was well respected for his experience in the nuclear industry nationwide.
While Jay left us far too soon, he was living his dream while raising his three beautiful children, Nichole, Tyler (Erika) and Lacey Eichenlaub. He was so proud of them and their accomplishments. He looked forward to every summer so that he could enjoy family and friends on his boat and on the river in his backyard. One of his other passions was playing golf with his family and friends.
