Butler grad Hepler chasing nationalsURSULINE, Ohio — Butler graduate Autumn Hepler is a junior on the seventh-ranked Ursuline College bowling team and will be competing in sectionals with the team this weekend in Stratford, N.J.The Arrows claimed their first victory last weekend at the Heartland Conference Championships in Michigan. Hepler had a 46 percent strike rate — 28 of 60 frames — in that tournament.The top teams from sectionals qualify for the national tournament in Wichita, Kan., next month.Hepler will receive an Academic All-American Award at sectionals for the third straight year. Ursuline has finished second in eight tournaments this season, third in two others.Hepler is averaging 183 through 60 tournament games this season.
SRU’s Papa named Coach of the YearSLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University track and field coach John Papa has been named Atlantic Region Women’s Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.The honor marks the 16th Regional Coach of the Year award in Papa’s 29 years at The Rock.SRU claimed its fifth PSAC indoor women’s title since 2007 this season, winning six individual titles. SRU’s Sabrina Anderson was named overall MVP at the PSAC Championships while Butler graduate Jasmine Bailey was named Outstanding Track Athlete.
