Butler Police2:49 a.m. Monday — Kyle B. Snow, 21, of West Sunbury was caught with suspected drug contraband in a car outside a bar on West Cunningham Street.Police said they found Snow in a vehicle with its lights off in the parking lot of the bar, which was closed. A search of the car turned up a metal spoon and a smoking pipe with suspected cocaine residue, court documents said.Snow is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.Monday — Shanda S. Renick, 45, of Clearfield Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop March 6 at Jefferson and Whitehall streets. Police said she was pulled over about 1:30 a.m. because one of her car’s head lights was not working.Renick, who appeared intoxicated, was eventually taken for a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.156 percent, nearly double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to driving under the influence, Renick is charged with careless driving and a lighting violation.
Butler Twp Police10:35 p.m. Tuesday — A vehicle driven by Dennis L. Beacom Jr., 20, of Worthington, Armstrong County, struck the back of another vehicle on Route 356 near Moraine Pointe Plaza. The other driver, Ryan Milford, 23, of Ellwood City, was taken by private vehicle to Butler Memorial Hospital with a head injury.Beacom’s condition was not known this morning. Police cited Beacom for driving at an unsafe speed.7:30 p.m. Tuesday — A teenager was possibly injured when a vehicle driven by Nicholas J. Schmidt, 26, of Butler struck another vehicle stopped at a red light on Hansen Avenue at Whitestown Road. The 17-year girl was riding in the other vehicle driven by her mother, Colleen Lasichak, 42, of West Sunbury.The teen was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital to be checked out.Police said Schmidt was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.7:23 a.m. Tuesday — A 16-year-old Butler girl was hurt in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction collision on New Castle Road near Alameda Road.The crash happened when a vehicle driven by Samantha L. Wilson, 18, of Butler rear-ended a car driven by Virginia Ferderber, 57, of Grove City. The collision forced Ferderber’s car into the 16-year-old’s car.The girl was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Police cited Wilson for careless driving.
State Police, ButlerSaturday — More than $6,000 worth of hunting equipment was stolen from an apparently unlocked vehicle at a home on Mahood Road in Center Township.The stolen property includes a BAT Machine Co. brand custom-built 6 mm PPC caliber benchrest rifle equipped with a Leupold 12-40x60 scope, a Leupold competition 45x45 spotting scope, a Slik camera tripod, a SKB gun case and an Edgewood leather bolt holsterThe property was taken between 10:15 p.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Monday — Police charged Brenda L. Burr, 39, with assaulting her husband during a March 7 domestic dispute at their home on Timber Lane in Forward Township. Police already had arrested Raymond C. Burr, 51, on assault charges immediately after the fracas.Raymond Burr is accused of pushing his wife and throwing hot coffee on her, according to court documents. He was arrested and charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, and harassment.While Burr was being arraigned on those charges, the arresting trooper noticed a bump above his right eye. He blamed the injury on his wife punching him after he allegedly threw the coffee on her, documents said.Police subsequently charged Brenda Burr with simple assault and harassment. She is to be arraigned March 29. Raymond Burr remains free on $5,000 unsecured bail.Friday — Police arrested William T. Taylor, 50, of Clarion in connection with the March 2 break-in at an acquaintance’s home on Foxburg Road in Allegheny Township.Taylor allegedly went into the home uninvited and with suspected drug contraband while the homeowner’s daughter was sleeping. No one else was home at the time. Court documents said Taylor knows the woman from an addiction treatment center in Clarion.The woman apparently did not know the defendant was at the home until her boyfriend returned. The boyfriend found Taylor in the bathroom and told him to leave, document said.Taylor was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.9:16 p.m. March 1 — Police caught Joshua Ray Scott, 27, with suspected marijuana and drug contraband while investigating a domestic dispute at his home on Route 38 in Allegheny Township.Scott’s wife, Jenifer R. Smith, notified authorities after she reported he hit her with a cell phone charging cord, according to court documents.The suspect was gone when troopers got there. But he later returned. Police said Scott appeared intoxicated. A pat-down search turned up a small baggie of suspected marijuana and a glass smoking pipe, documents said.Scott is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, harassment and public drunkenness.
State Police, Kittanning5:51 p.m. Tuesday — Cody A. Montgomery, 27, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township. Police said they also found him with a bag of suspected crack cocaine.Montgomery’s passenger, a 27-year-old Worthington woman, was found with suspected marijuana and a crack pipe. Drug-related charges are pending lab results.
