Regis J. McGuire Sr.

Regis J. McGuire Sr., 88, of the Clinton section of Freeport passed away peacefully Sunday at his home.

Regis was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Sarver. He was the son of the late Genevieve (Geibel) and Thomas V. McGuire.

Regis was the widower of Jane E. (Hudson) McGuire. He was a strong and diligent caregiver for his wife when she fell ill eight years before her passing in 2004.

He was a 1946 graduate of Freeport High School. After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent two years in the Philippines after World War II.

After his discharge from the military, Regis joined the IBEW Local 5 in Pittsburgh. Regis had also worked for Allegheny Towing in Coraopolis. He worked in the maintenance department for 22 years, retiring in 1991.

Regis was a prideful hard-working man who could repair and build anything he put his mind toward, including building his own home. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and spending time along the Allegheny River.

Regis is survived by his four children, R. John (Lisa) McGuire Jr. of South Buffalo Township, Susan (Howard Allen) Brown of South Buffalo Township, William (Marlene McAninch) McGuire of Freeport and Michael (Susanne) McGuire of Wilmington.

He also is survived by his five grandchildren, David (Avery) Brown, Chris (Jennifer) Brown, MacKenzie J. McGuire and Grace and Riley McGuire; two great-grandchildren, Marielle and Madeline Brown; and two brothers, Harold V. McGuire of Cabot and Thomas (Marge) McGuire of Warren, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Wranich, and his sister-in-law, Virginia McGuire.

MCGUIRE — Family and friends of Regis J. McGuire Sr., who died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev.
