Late May opening planned for city brewery

Seeing the Butler Brew Works sign go up on Main Street this week, prompted the question, “When is it opening?”

Co-owners Travis Tuttle and Nick Fazzoni, who were inside working this week, admit they’ve had a few setbacks since their original launch time of May 2012.

But they’re feeling confident about their new opening deadline of the end of May.

“We’ve set a lot of deadlines that obviously we missed,” Tuttle said. “But this time the contractors are moving on schedule.”

The tap room, growing in the former Eckert Drug Store building at North Main and Jefferson streets, will offer a selection of seasonal beers and four year-round staples: an IPA, a milk stout, an amber and a pale ale.

The beer will be made on site. The facility will have room for up to 20 taps, but will start with eight. It also will have a kitchen.

“This will definitely be something different for Butler,” Fazzoni said.
