Drunken driving arrests drop in cityPITTSBURGH — The number of drunken driving arrests dropped 18 percent in the Pittsburgh-area last year, the first that ridesharing service Uber was allowed to operate in and around the city.State records show there were 3,284 DUI arrests in Allegheny County last year, down from 4,004 in 2014 and 4,118 the year before.Uber officials say their requests for rides spike at about 2 a.m. — when most bars normally close — and again at 4 a.m. The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh and several bars top the list of places where Uber rides are requested.Statewide, drunken driving arrests fell about 2 percent last year.

Biden to address sex assault at PittPITTSBURGH — Vice President Joe Biden will be in Pittsburgh next week to address the issue of campus sexual assault.Biden’s speech at the University of Pittsburgh on Tuesday will be the first in a multicity tour as part of the White House’s “It’s On Us” campaign.The initiative began two years ago on 200 college and university campuses where student leaders pledged to try to prevent sexual assaults.
