Fred M. Schrecengost

Fred M. Schrecengost, 87, of Kiski Township, formerly of Hooker and Sligo, passed away Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.

Born May 8, 1928, in Avonmore, Pa., he was a son of the late William and Hazel (Shaffer) Schrecengost.

Fred was the owner and operator of Fred Schrecengost Oil and Gas Production and Drilling in Sligo since 1954.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Independent Petroleum Producers and the Coolspring Power Museum. Fred enjoyed working and making money.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel (Ross) Schrecengost in 2011; his son, William M. Schrecengost in 2006; and five brothers.

Fred is survived by his children, Catherine D. “Cathy” (Jeff) Piper of Avonmore, Marlin M. (Tracy) Schrecengost of Saxonburg, Fred M. Schrecengost Jr. of Saxonburg and Mia (Kevin) Daniels of Clinton, Pa.; his second wife, Betty Jane (Schall) Schrecengost of Saxonburg; six grandchildren, Jared, Dalton, Abigail, Mason, Adam and Annette; four great-grandchildren, Alonzo, Gabby, Connor and Gideon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SCHRECENGOST — Friends of Fred M. Schrecengost, who died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo.A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev.
