Grace O. Vogus

Grace O. Vogus, 85, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Grove City to the late C. Harold Oakes and Marjorie (Hovis) Oakes.

Mrs. Vogus was a graduate of Clintonville High School in 1948. She went on to Clarion State Teacher's College, where she received her bachelor's degree in library science.

Mrs. Vogus worked as a librarian at Oil City High School.

She belonged to Friends of the Butler Public Library, where she delivered books to shut-ins and also the Pennsylvania Library Association.

She was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church and the Prime Timers. She loved to knit and taught knitting lessons. She loved to read, travel with college classmates, and she especially enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities and spending time with family.

She is survived by one son, Scott D. Vogus and his wife, Lorraine, of Cabot; one daughter, Victoria L. Pacey and her husband, Lawrence W., of Valencia; six grandchildren, Nicole L. Vogus, Douglas R. Vogus, Jillian R. Vogus, Claire E. Pacey, Philip W. Pacey and Caroline G. Pacey; one sister, V. Elizabeth (Betty) Cross of Rockland, Pa.; four nieces; and four nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Vogus, who she married July 2, 1951, and who passed away Dec 13, 2009, and by one sister, Claribel H. Martin.

VOGUS — Friends of Grace O. Vogus, who died Thursday, March 3, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at noon Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald A. Aull of the Faith United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N.
