William L. “Bill” Sproat
William L. “Bill” Sproat, 95, of New Brighton passed away Wednesday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.
Born Nov. 21, 1920, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Phillip and Lotta (McPherson) Sproat.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was a longtime member of the English Lutheran Church in Zelienople. He was also a member of the Zelienople Sportsmen's Club. During his free time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Kay Carol Young and her husband, Eugene, of New Brighton; his sister-in-law, Helen Sproat of Cranberry Township; his three grandchildren, Cheryl Milburn, Bradley Young and his wife, Carol, and Melanie Kreisel and her husband, Raymond; his three great-grandchildren, Madelaine, Faith and Eliana Kreisel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Helen M. (Hartzell) Sproat, who died April 16, 2015; and his five siblings, Melvin “Bud” Sproat, Mildred Seely, Phillip Sproat, Helen Cookson and Pearl Sproat.
SPROAT — The family of William L. “Bill” Sproat, who died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
