SRU's Kassab gets PSAC honorsSLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's Paige Kassab, a senior on the Rock women's track and field team, has been named PSAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week.At the Liberty Collegiate Invite, Kassab managed an NCAA provisional height of five feet, six and a half inches in the high jump while competing in the heptathlon.The effort is the best in the conference this season and ranks 15th in the nation.
Police find gun in Smith’s vehicleNEW ORLEANS — Police found a fully loaded gun inside the vehicle former New Orleans Saints star Will Smith was driving the night he was shot, but there was no evidence that it had been fired, police said.In a statement, police shed new light on the shocking death of the New Orleans football legend who was shot and killed Saturday night. Police have said that Smith and his wife were shot by Cardell Hayes after a traffic altercation.Among the other news released in the statement: Hayes told police on the scene that he was the shooter, police also found a loaded revolver inside Hayes’ vehicle and Smith had two other passengers in his vehicle Saturday night along with his wife. Neither was wounded.
Harbaugh fires back over NCAA rulingANN ARBOR, Mich. — Jim Harbaugh has fired back at the NCAA.The Michigan coach says, “the incompetence of the NCAA has reared its ugly head yet again,” in a story published Tuesday by Sports Illustrated.Harbaugh was reacting to Friday’s decision that bars football coaches from having camps or clinics away from campus or facilities that schools regularly use for practice or games.The NCAA sided with the Southeastern and Atlantic Coast conferences’ proposal to stop Harbaugh’s so-called satellite camps.
