Community Health Clinic gets grants
The Community Health Clinic of Butler County has received two grants for a total of $16,000.
The largest is a $15,000 grant from one of the largest generic pharmaceutical companies in the country, Teva Pharmaceuticals. It partnered with the Volunteers in Medicine Foundation, which assists communities in setting up a free clinic.
“Teva is committed to increasing high-quality health care and to improving the overall health of our communities,” the company said in a release announcing the award. “We focus our corporate charitable donations in the areas we believe significantly affect the health of our communities.”
The other grant, a $1,000 award from HSN Cares, comes after a clinic volunteer nominated clinic and the Home Shopping Network chose to feature the clinic on its network, HSN, at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Clinic volunteer Dalene Gustkey sent a letter to HSN describing the clinic’s programs and services, and HSN responded by selecting the Community Health Clinic as one of the recipients of a donation.
In April, in honor of HSN’s Customer Appreciation Month, HSN Cares is donating $1,000 a day to a charity.
The Community Health Clinic at 103 Bonnie Drive opened in 2008 and provides free medical and dental care to eligible county residents.
