Elmer J. Christy
Elmer J. Christy, 93, of South Buffalo Township passed away Saturday at the Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg.
He was born Dec. 19, 1922, to the late William R. and Lottie (Kramer) Christy in Tarentum.
Elmer attended Har-Brack High School.
He was an employee of Allegheny Ludlum Brackenridge Works for 42 years, where he was a bricklayer, blacksmith, boilermaker and carpenter. In addition, he built custom homes and sold them.
He was considered a master mechanic by his family when it came to formulating plans and doing the construction, at times single-handedly.
He enjoyed working on his “machines,” taking rides, camping and most of all watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
Elmer leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 74 years, whom he married on Dec. 25, 1941, Lois Mae (Negley) Christy; his children, Elmer G. (Carole) Christy of Ford City, Gary W. (Marilee) Christy of South Buffalo Township, Meredith J. “Merdy” (Marge) Christy of Freeport, Thomas L. (Bonnie) Christy of South Buffalo Township, Melody S. (William) DiEmidio of South Buffalo Township; his daughter-in-law, Marge Christy of Saxonburg; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, mentioned above, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward, Walter, George, Harry, Mabel, Margaret “Peg” and Dorothy “Hun,” and one infant sister.

Christy, who died Saturday, April 2, 2016, will welcome friends and family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the DENNIS J.
