Floyd Wellner Jr.

Floyd Wellner Jr., 78, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away March 28, surrounded by loving family members.

A Butler native, Floyd was the son of Agnes and Floyd Wellner Sr.

He attended St. Paul School, graduated from Butler High School, and attended Slippery Rock College.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, including duty in Colorado and Alaska.

He was employed at Armco Steel, Wheel Works, and later moved with his family to Lake Worth, Fla., where he served in several sales positions. He later represented Blue Bird Bus Co. for 16 years throughout Florida.

In retirement, he enjoyed family and friends, traveling and spending summers in Maggie Valley, N.C., where he worked as a golf course starter.

Floyd leaves a large and loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Gloria Newell. He also is survived by his sister, Maxene Lackey (William) of Atlantis, Fla.; and two brothers, Gerald Wellner (Sandra) of Gibsonia and James Wellner of Lake Worth, Fla.

Floyd and his previous wife, Suzi Savino, were blessed with three children, Anne Christine Boron (Bill), Amy Wellner Cropper and Stephen France Wellner, all from Cleveland, Ohio.

He is survived by three stepchildren, David Hunter, Chris Hunter and Sharon Yanson (Roger).

He also is survived by six grandchildren, Alexandra Boron, Brooks Boron, Bryce Boron, Kiefer Cropper, Jake Cropper and Devon Cropper.

He was fortunate to have four step-grandchildren, Chantelle Bednor, Coco Glasson, Travis Hunter and Gavin Hunter.

Floyd also is survived by nine stepgrandchildren and his nieces and nephews, Kevin Wylie (Cindy), Keith Wylie (Diane), Ashley Wellner (Susan), Travis Wellner (Melanie) and Maggie Wellner Powell (Ross).

Floyd was known for his zest for life, for his stories and life adventures and for his love for his family. During retirement he often took neighbors and friends on bus trips to enjoy the Florida beaches and attractions. He was a family man and was never bored, enjoyed sports and his beloved Tampa Bay teams. The television was always set by Floyd to the sports stations.

He will be missed by all who knew him. We (his family) believe Floyd will add to the joy in heaven with his spirit. To have known him was to have loved him. Rest in peace our dear and beloved Floyd.

WELLNER — Funeral arrangements for Floyd Wellner Jr., who died Monday, March 28, 2015, will be handled by the HODGES Family Funeral Home in Zephyrhills, Fla.A memorial service is being planned in his honor for later this spring.
