William J. List

William J. List, 82, of Hemet, Calif., formerly of Butler passed away April 1 after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Butler, the son of the late William List and Dorothy Chandler and graduated from Butler High School in 1951. He was married to Maxine Testi List, who survives him, for 61 years.

Out of high school, Bill was signed to a professional baseball contract by the Philadelphia Phillies, but injuries ended his pitching career. He worked in the inspection department of ARMCO Steel in Butler for 33 years.

In 1987, after retiring, he and his wife moved to Southern California, where both of their children lived. In retirement, he continued to enjoy playing golf on a regular basis.

He is survived by his widow; his son, Douglas List and his wife, Jessica; his daughter, Lori Gallagher and her husband, James; his granddaughter, Courtney Gallagher Morales and her husband, David; his grandson, Dylan Gallagher; his sisters, Linda Shingleton and Nancy Parker; and his brother, Larry List and his wife Kathy.
