Commissioner's father dies after illness
Eugene Boozel, 68, of Renfrew, the father of Butler County Commissioner Kevin Boozel, died Monday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
His son took office in January.
He was born Feb. 23, 1948, in West Sunbury, the son of the late Burdette and Mary (McDeavitt) Boozel.
Gene's favorite pasttimes were hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, dad and granddad, who enjoyed spending his time with family. He belonged to the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church.
Gene had retired from ATI Precision in Zelienople.
Surviving are his wife, Alice R. (Sibble) Boozel, who he married March 16, 1968; his children and their spouses, Thomas (Michelle) Boozel, Kimberly (David) Kotomski and Kevin (Renee) Boozel and Connie (Keith) Nicklas; his grandchildren, Sara Kotomski, Tyler Boozel, Stephanie Kotomski, Matthew Kotomski, Zachory Boozel, Allison Nicklas, Cody Boozel, Ashley Nicklas and Colton Boozel; and his siblings and their spouses, Anna (Tom) Knauff, John (Joan) Boozel, Sandy (Rudy) Zendron and Harry (Judy) Boozel.
BOOZEL — Friends of Eugene Boozel, who died Monday, May 30, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bonnie Fisher officiating. Interment will be in the Butler County Memorial Park.
