Lana P. Kensky, 89, of Butler passed away Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot while surrounded by her family, following an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Clairton, Pa. She was a daughter of the late Chauncey and Edith (Roach) Trainer.

She was a former member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Clairton. She was a member of Tanglewood Center, where she and her husband enjoyed dancing. She enjoyed traveling with her husband.

She was a homemaker for her family.

Surviving are her husband, Stephen Kensky, who she married March 7, 1946, just celebrating 70 years; five children, Stephen (Vicki) Kensky of Florida, Ronald (Donna) Kensky of Ohio, Lana (Gary) Cehelsky of Illinois and Kathleen (Frank) Weber and Dolores (Michael) McCandless, both of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Bryan (Leigh) Kensky, Matthew (Julie) Kensky, Michael Kensky, David Kensky, Ronald (Amy) Kensky, Kristin (Robert) Maiorano, Crystal (Michael) Kraynik, Christopher (Shannon) Weber, Michael (Angela) McCandless and Ryan (Amanda) McCandless; 17 great-grandchildren, Ashton and Peyton Kensky, Abigail and Owen Kensky, Emily, Riley and Kassie Kensky, McKenzie and Haley Maiorano, Mason and Carter Kraynik, Reed Weber, and MacKayla, MacKenna, Michael, Cayden and Caylee McCandless; and her brother, Kenneth Trainer of Pittsburgh.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and her beloved grandson, Nathan McCandless, who passed away July 29, 2012.

Lana's family would like her to be most remembered for being a loving wife and mother. She was so precious to us and will be greatly missed.

KENSKY — Friends of Lana P. Kensky, who died Sunday, May 1, 2016, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Tara Lynn to officiate. Interment will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park.
