Woman dies in motorcycle crash
State police are investigating a motorcycle wreck Wednesday evening in northern Butler County that turned fatal for a Venango County woman.
Raegan Lynn Phenicie, 42, of Franklin died of injuries in the one-vehicle crash about 6 p.m. on Route 8 just north of Kiester Road in Slippery Rock Township, authorities said.
Phenicie was a passenger on the 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that her husband Donald James Phenicie, 43, of Franklin was driving south on the highway.
Donald Phenicie apparently lost control of the cycle when he applied his brakes while approaching other vehicles stopped on the road waiting to turn, police said.
Both riders were thrown off the bike. Neither wore a helmet.
Police said witnesses performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Raegan Lynn Phenicie before a Slippery Rock EMS crew took her by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.
Donald Phenicie suffered unknown injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. His condition was not known this morning.
The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene, where emergency crew remained until after 7:30 p.m.
