Dewayne E. “Abe” Tebay

Dewayne E. “Abe” Tebay, 84, a Grove City area resident since 1969, passed away in Butler Memorial Hospital at 7:55 p.m. Friday following a brief illness.

Dewayne was born in Butler County on March 23, 1932, to Raymond T. and Florence C. Cross Tebay. He married Shirley M. Shelatree on Jan. 5, 1952.

He was raised in the Protestant faith in Claytonia, Butler County, on his family farm. He retired after 40 years as a heavy equipment operator.

Dewayne loved his animals, was an avid Steelers, Pirates and NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed doing yard work.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley at home; one daughter, Barb Robinson of Grove City; three sons, Butch Tebay of Grove City, Gary Tebay of Butler and Randy Tebay of Georgia; seven grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Janet Thompson of Karns City and Ethel Curry of Zelienople.

Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brenda K. Morrison; one sister, Geraldine Webb; and two brothers, Will and Bill Tebay.

TEBAY — Visitation for Dewayne E. “Abe” Tebay, who died on Friday, June 10, 2016, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
