Emma M. Boice
Emma M. Boice, 94, of Mars, formerly of Valencia, died Wednesday afternoon at LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.
Born Aug. 11, 1921, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late John and Annetta Florence Jones Spohrer.
For many years, Emma was a member of Valencia United Methodist Church and president of the United Methodist Women. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Mars VFW Post 7505 and volunteered 300 hours at Butler VAMC. She also volunteered at St. Barnabas Free Home in Gibsonia.
She worked for Penn Baking in Pittsburgh and sold Stanley Home Products for 25 years. She also worked at Donna's Kitchen in the Northway Mall as a server and cashier.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Anne Hicks of Gibsonia and Dayle Annette Kaufman and her husband, Barry, of Valencia, and two sons, David Albert Boice and his wife, Mary, of North Hills and Dennis Allen “Butch” Boice and his wife, Barbara, of Butler. She also is survived by eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Dale Boice, who died Oct. 29, 1981; three brothers, Elmer and Ellis Matheson and John Spohrer; and two sisters, Elizabeth Wendling and Annetta Miller.
BOICE — Friends of Emma M. Boice, who died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Valencia United Methodist Church, 66 Almira St., Valencia, with the Rev. Robert Martin, pastor, officiating.
