Review set for PSU’s performanceHARRISBURG — Pennsylvania’s auditor general has announced a review of Penn State University’s performance, focusing on governance, safety and tuition across its 24 campuses.Auditor General Eugene DePasquale said Tuesday that his audit will revisit former auditor general Jack Wagner’s recommendations to the university following the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse case, as well as compliance with state and federal guidelines.The review to cover university operations since January 2013 also will look at the structure of Penn State’s board of trustees and university efforts to stem tuition increases. DePasquale says Penn State has pledged its full cooperation.The state has previously audited other higher education institutions.
Couple donates $7M to collegeMEADVILLE — A college in northwestern Pennsylvania has received $7 million in donations to support arts, economics and experiential learning.Allegheny College announced Monday that 1956 graduate Patricia Bush Tippie and her husband, Henry, recently donated $2 million to the Meadville school and have donated a total of $7 million over the past year.The donations support the school’s $200 million fundraising drive.
