Harmony Fest is this weekend
HARMONY — Harmony Jazz Fest 2016 revs up Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Festivities open Friday with the iconic “Mr. Trombone” Harold Betters at 7 p.m. in Stewart Hall at the Harmony Museum.
Betters will be joined by musicians including Danny Wasson on bass, Joe DeFazio on keyboard, and Harold’s grandson Patrick Kelly on drums. As it happened last year, expect additional friends and guests to join in.
Concert tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students. Half the price of each ticket sold will go to the museum.
Impromptu jazz around Harmony is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. After the concert, some jazz at the Harmony Inn is anticipated.
Other events include funk and fusion music with the Ben Barson Band at 7 p.m. Saturday upstairs in the Harmony Opera House. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students.
Sunday’s events will include a mellow Jazz Brunch in the outside garden of the Stohr Haus Bakery on the Main Square. Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $18. Reservations are requested and can be made at 724-473-0306.
The close out event is Sunday afternoon. Regional jazz group CATRO will be featured on the newly reconstructed patio at the Harmony Inn from 4 to 7 p.m. Reservations are encouraged by calling the inn at 724-452-5124.
