Raymond “Ray” E. Bester

Raymond “Ray” E. Bester, 67, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Butler, to the late Buddy Richard Bester and the late Eva Louise Bell.

Raymond worked as a crane operator for Operating Engineers Local Union 66 for several years before retiring in 2005. He belonged to the Ridgeway Rifle Club. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman and loved garage sales. He was a graduate of Butler High School in 1967, a graduate of BC3 and received a bachelor's degree in education from California State College in 1972. Raymond loved his farm in Kane, Pa.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, who he married Dec. 24, 2008; one son, Michael R. Bester of Butler; one daughter, Julie A. Bester of Pittsburgh; two stepsons, Joseph Andres and his wife, Kim, of Treasure Lake, Pa., and Maxwell Andres of Lewisburg, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Brooke Andres of Dubois; four grandchildren, Syndey Bester of Butler, and Callie, Crixus and Cylas Trout; six step-grandchildren, Mason, Madyson and MaKenna Andres, Riley and Danika Butler, and Aeden Andres.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Bester.

BESTER — A celebration of life for Raymond “Ray” E. Bester, who died Saturday, July 22, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
