'The Coop' offers an outlet for artists
EMLENTON, Venango County — The Chicken Coop Studio 306 isn't what you might expect. It's not full of chickens, instead it's full of artists.
Located in Emlenton's Crawford Center, “The Coop” is a nonprofit organization established through Bridge Builders Community Foundation.
It hopes to foster community engagement and provide creative, educational opportunities to the Allegheny-Clarion River Valley region through its workshops.
The Coop's workshops offer a variety of crafting opportunities. Recently, founding member and award-winning floral designer, Lorri Mogus led a workshop about creating wrist corsages and boutonnieres.
The next workshop, Harvest Scarecrow, will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16.
For $10 per child, adults can take children ages 4 to 10 to create a scarecrow decoration. Supplies are provided. Register online a week before the event.
In addition to its workshops, The Coop holds open studios from 7 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday. For a $5 donation, anyone over 18 years old can use the studio to draw, crochet or work on other creative activities. For more information about The Coop, visit chickencoopstudio306.org.
