PennDOT starts work on Clinton roundabout

CLINTON TWP — The state Department of Transportation started work this week on construction of a roundabout replacing the Route 228 and Saxonburg Boulevard intersection.

Equipment is being brought to the intersection, also known as Cox’s Corner.

Later this month, there will be lane restrictions while cross pipes on Route 228 are replaced as part of the $5.5 million project.

According to PennDOT, there will be no lane restrictions between 6 and 9 a.m.

Utility relocation and excavation work will occur in the winter.

According to PennDOT, the majority of work this year will not impact traffic along Route 228. However, some impacts will occur next year during the major phase of construction.

Contractor A. Liberoni Inc. of Plum in Allegheny County is expected to complete the project in November 2017.

PennDOT advises motorists to heed flaggers, reduce speed and be careful while traveling through construction zones.

Motorists can check traffic conditions by visiting www.511PA.com, which has access to more than 700 traffic cameras.
