Allen K. Frye

Allen K. Frye, 66, of Penn Hills passed away Thursday at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Allen was born March 8, 1950, in Lewistown, Pa., to Jack Frye and Joan Spaide, and they survive.

Allen entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War. During his time in the service, he earned three Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. After service overseas, Allen became part of the presidential guard having earned the rank of sergeant.

Allen was a member of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He loved to hunt, fish, to do anything outdoors, woodworking, building and painting. He was a self-proclaimed “NASCAR nut” and would attend the race in Las Vegas yearly to cheer on his favorite racer, Jimmie Johnson. He also loved to travel, particularly to Mexico.

In addition to his parents, Allen is survived by Sharone Walter of Penn Hills; his son, Allen “Sonny” Frye Jr. of New Castle; three daughters, Dawn Frye of Lewistown, Kelli Hovis and her husband, Aaron, of Emlenton and Melissa Servello and her husband, Nino, of Murraysville; two brothers, Harvey Frye and his wife, Marilyn, and Scott Frye and his wife; three sisters, Angie Plantz and her husband, Mark, Paula Vicars and her husband, Dave, and Diane Berube and her husband, Todd; his stepmother, Dorothy Frye; eight grandchildren, Vincent Royer and Lily Frye, Bobby, Danielle and Andrew Hovis and Vincent, Dom and Anthony Servello.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alvin Secrest.

FRYE — The friends and family of Allen K. Frye, who died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, are welcome from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the JAMISON FUNERAL HOME, 117 N Main St, Harrisville.A service will be at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ken Hughes, pastor of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church, officiating.Immediately after the service, Allen will receive full military honors.Memorials may be made in Allen's name to Operation Homefront, P.O.
