Thomas “Tom” J. Walsh
Thomas “Tom” J. Walsh of Granger, Ind., formerly of Butler, passed away Monday at Cleveland Clinic.
He was the son of the late Walter and Mabel Young Walsh.
Tom graduated from Butler Senior High School, Class of 1966, received his associate degree at Butler County Community College and his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Robert Morris University.
He retired from PNC Bank in 2015 as a financial adviser.
While in high school he was a member of the varsity basketball team and was looking forward to attending his 50th class reunion in September.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for six years.
While living in Butler, he served as the commissioner of baseball for the Prospect Boys Club. For the past nine years, he was a volunteer at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at Notre Dame, Ind.
Tom was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Granger, Ind., and a former member of St. Paul R.C. Church in Butler.
Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He married his high school sweetheart, Rosemarie “Honey” Herman Walsh. Tom and Rosemarie would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary Tuesday.
He was loved and cherished by all who were lucky enough to be part of his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never failed to give those around him a good laugh. He was a source of strength and kindness to many. His life could be reflected most by referring to his favorite song of all time, “What A Wonderful World.”
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; his sons, Timothy and Daniel; his grandson, Austin; his sisters, Jeanette (Willie) Edwards, Carol (Donald) Osgood and Eileen (Thomas) Scott; and his best friends, Lonnie and Dorie Nichols. He also is survived by one aunt, Ethel Young; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
WALSH — Visitation for Thomas “Tom” J. Walsh, who died Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Internment to follow at the Butler County Memorial Park.St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.
