Butler Police1:45 a.m. Thursday — Amanda J. McCune, 23, no known address, was arrested after she was caught allegedly shoplifting merchandise at the Family Dollar store at Pullman Square.Police said McCune tried to swipe two cans of air conditioning recharger, a deadbolt lock and two packages of air freshener. The items are valued at a combined $76.32.McCune, who was two prior shoplifting convictions, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail following arraignment.11:38 a.m. Wednesday — April M. Demmerle, 31, of Butler was arrested for drugged driving after police were called for a report of a woman slumped over the wheel of a minivan at Mercer and Wood streets.When officers got there, Demmerle was standing next to her van. The ignition was still on, police said, and she appeared badly impaired.She was arrested for suspicion of driving on drugs and police searched her. In her wallet, according to court documents, was a Suboxone strip, for which she did not have a prescription.A later search at the police station turned up a plastic bag containing suspected psychedelic mushrooms in her purse, documents said.Demmerle was subsequently taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology tests are pending.During the investigation, police said they also learned that while the suspect was driving around that day, her 3-year-old daughter was home alone.Demmerle was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.

Butler Township PoliceBrandon E. Loughman, 27, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant after police were called for a disturbance on New Castle Road. Police searched Loughman and found an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin and other contraband.He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report, and placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant.

Grove City PoliceFriday — Police recovered an abandoned bicycle near Erie Street. The owner can claim the bike at the police station at 337 E. Pine St.

State Police, Butler2:40 a.m. Friday — Nicholas Roush, 25, of Ellwood City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle crashed into a garage on Yellow Creek Road in Lancaster Township. No one was injured. The garage sustained minor damage.Monday — Sara F. Al-Anazi, 26, of Franklin Township was charged with being more than double the legal limit for alcohol and on drugs in June when she caused a two-vehicle crash in Franklin Township.Police said Al-Anazi’s car crossed into opposing traffic on Unionville Road and collided with a car driven by James B. Rodgers.The suspect, who smelled of alcohol, said she had been drinking and had taken prescription medication, according to court documents. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Toxicology results subsequently showed Al-Anazi’s blood-alcohol level was 0.196 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. She also had oxycodone, a narcotic painkiller, in her system.Al-Anazi is charged with driving under the influence of both alcohol and a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic and careless driving.Sept. 22 — Police charged Sean N. Hembree, 21, after he was caught with a stolen video game console at his home on Rothen Avenue in Butler Township.The case was filed in the aftermath of a break-in March 16 at a house on Youkers Road in Franklin Township. A Sony PlayStation and several video games and accessories were taken.The investigation led police to Hembree’s house, where they found the stolen property, valued at $580, according to court documents.He told police that he got the items from his cousin, who had gotten them from someone named “Jimmy,” documents said. Hembree said he did not know “Jimmy.”Hembree is charged with receiving stolen property.

State Police, Kittanning5:20 p.m. Friday — Justis B. Dominick, 20, of Freeport lost control of his pickup truck and struck a concrete barrier on Route 28 south, just south of exit 12 in Harmar Township, Allegheny County.Dominick was not hurt but his truck had to be towed. Police cited him for driving at an unsafe speed.7:11 a.m. Thursday — No one was injured in a four-vehicle wreck in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County. Details of the wreck were unavailable, but the drivers were identified as Dalton G. Blose, 22, and James Seagriff, 41, both of Freeport; Joseph A. Sells, 48, of Sarver; and Joseph A. Carns, 43, of Clearfield, Pa.4:33 p.m. Sunday — Jamie L. Kamerer, 33, of Chicora was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Sugarcreek Township. The crash happened when a car driven by Janet A. Brink, 62, of East Brady and the minivan Kamerer was driving collided on Route 268.Kamerer, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police cited Brink for failing to yield the right of way7:08 p.m. Sept. 24 — Joshua S. Heighley, 32, of Kittanning was arrested on charges he assaulted 30-year-old Arron C. Neal of Kittanning during an argument on Freeport Road in North Buffalo Township.Heighley is charged with simple assault and harassment. Police said they also cited Neal for harassment.1:22 a.m. Aug. 14 — Fred Clark Jr., 50, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 in North Buffalo Township.

State Police, Mercer11:03 p.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Brandon C. Bryley, 23, of Pasadena, Md., crashed into several trees along Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Police cited Bryley for disregarding traffic lanes.12:28 a.m. Tuesday — An unknown shoplifter made off with $1,500 in electronics merchandise from the Walmart on West Main Street Extension in Pine Township, Mercer County.1:39 a.m. Sept. 21 — A 28-year-old Grove City man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his motorcycle struck a mailbox along Route 173 just south of Old Mill Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County. Police said the suspect, who suffered minor injuries, tried to flee but his damaged cycle broke down a short time later. Drunken driving charges are pending lab results.State Bureau, Dog Law EnforcementWednesday — Ellie Petralia, 40, of Butler Township was charged with four violations of the state’s dog law, all misdemeanors. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement filed the case that stems from Petralia’s conviction May 17 in Allegheny County for harboring a dangerous dog in Pittsburgh’s North Hills.Court documents identified the animal as a Labrador retriever/American bulldog mix.State dog Warden Jennifer George, who filed the Butler County charges, said Petralia failed to register the dog at her home on Zenith Road in Butler Township.Additionally, she failed to obtain $50,000 in liability insurance for the dog, failed to have a microchip implanted in the dog, and failed to have the dog neutered.
