Evelyn M. McClaine, 88, of Butler passed away Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born June 28, 1928, in Helen Furnace, Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Cecil C. and Mary Isabelle Milliron Callihan.

She retired in 1973 from Kinney's Shoe Store as an assistant store manager.

She was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.

She was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and traveling, especially to Hawaii.

Surviving are her husband, Richard J. McClaine, whom she married Aug. 24, 1946; two daughters, Mary Kay (John) Werth of Ohio and Constance (Brian) Sawford of Butler; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Natalie) Callihan of California and Larry Callihan of Greenville, Pa.; two daughters-in-law, Clarissa and Kathy McClaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard J. “Pete” and Donald Leo McClaine; one grandson, Peter James McClaine; four brothers; and two sisters.

MCCLAINE — Friends of Evelyn M. McClaine, who died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler. The Rev. James Murphy, pastor, will officiate.
