Marcella G. Sarver Johnston
Marcella G. Sarver Johnston, 93, of Renfrew passed away Tuesday at the St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars after a brief illness.
Marcella was born July 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Ferdinand Samuel Sarver and the late Catherine Veronica Spithaler Sarver.
She was a 1941 graduate of Butler High School, where she met her future husband, Jim Johnston. Marcella and Jim were married July 16, 1943. They were happily married for 65 years, before Jim died Feb. 18, 2008.
Marcella's love of God and her dedication to spreading His Word was evident in the way she lived her life and gave of her time to St. John's Lutheran Church, Connoquenessing, where she was a member her entire life.
Her other interests, including her family, were baking her infamous sweet rolls, sewing for her girls and reading every published Max Lucado book. Family get-togethers were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her three children, Sherrill Cashdollar and her husband, Paul, of Coatesville, Pa., Martha Robb and her husband, Robert, of Renfrew, with whom she made her home, and Timothy Johnston and his wife, Susan, of Renfrew; six grandchildren, Phillip Robb of Irvine, Calif., Gayle Robb Shoemaker of Bartlett, Ill., Chris Cashdollar of Havertown, Pa., Beth Cashdollar Cammarata of Philadelphia, Sarah Johnston Hancher of Harmony and Molly Johnston Brunner of Zelienople; 11 great-grandchildren; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her beloved Jim, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Alma McKeever, Beryl Hughes and Rachel Trautman; and two brothers, the Rev. F. Leroy Sarver and Vernon Sarver.
JOHNSTON — Friends of Marcella G. Sarver Johnston, who died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, with the Rev.
