Charles E. Wegner Jr.

Charles E. Wegner Jr., 72, of Harrisville passed away Wednesday evening at home following a nine-month illness.

Charles was born July 10, 1944, in Tarentum, to Charles E. Wegner Sr. and Eleanor E. Bruce Wegner. He married Linda J. Hoffman on March 11, 1967.

He was a graduate of Tarentum High School in 1962 and Grove City College in 1966.

Charles retired in 2000 from Slippery Rock School District where he taught music education and was choral director for 34 years. He loved teaching, singing and enjoyed working with the school's choral groups for performances and competitions. He was always proud of his students' work ethics, success and achievements.

In his spare time he enjoyed boating, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a car enthusiast but mostly his joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His Christian faith became important to him as a young man and continued throughout his life.

Charles was a member of PSEA retirees and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.

He is survived by his wife, Linda at home; two sons, Charles E. Wegner III of Harrisville and Bob Wegner and his wife, Lisa, of Glenshaw, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Ivy, Emma, Lydia and Hudson.

His parents and one sister, Dorothy Anderson, preceded Charles in death.

WEGNER — The family of Charles E. Wegner Jr., who died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
