Lloyd “Cy” E. Wilson, 89, of Mars, died Friday afternoon at the Butler Veterans Hospice.

Born Nov. 1, 1926, in Penn Township, he was the son of the late James and Florence Lloyd Wilson.

Cy had worked for 55 years in many different positions with Purvis Brothers in Mars, most recently in sales.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea, where his duties included escorting 29 fallen soldiers to their hometowns. He was a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505 and the Mars American Legion Post 787.

After serving in the military, Cy continued his education and became a funeral director.

Active in Masonic Orders, he was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM, the Valley of New Castle Consistory, the Syria Shrine and the Royal Order of Jesters Court 2. Cy was the oldest life member of the Mars Volunteer Fire Department, now Adams Area Fire Distinct. He had been a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church.

Cy loved golfing and was a member of the Oak View Golf Club, where he golfed until he was 88.

Surviving are his companion of 11 years, Patricia A. Minor of Butler; two sons, Lloyd Wilson Jr. and his wife, Betty S., and Matthew Wilson and his wife, Donna, both of Valencia; two grandsons, Brian Wilson and Sean Wilson and his wife, Kristin, both of Valencia; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Noah Wilson; one sister, Madelynn “Mitzie” Staaf of Gibsonia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Fox Wilson, who he married Sept. 10, 1949, and who died July 26, 2002; and one sister, Dorothy “Dot” Kline.

WILSON — Friends of Lloyd “Cy” E. Wilson, who died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at theMcDonald-AeberliFuneral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
