No tax increase in Adams' preliminary budget
ADAMS TWP — The supervisors on Monday night approved a preliminary budget that holds the line on taxes for the 28th consecutive year.
The $7.8 million 2017 preliminary budget is up slightly from the $7.5 million 2016 budget,
The township is able to maintain the tax rate due to significant residential and commercial growth. The revenues from taxes to be collected next year is projected at $5,681,000.
Increases in expenses from the current budget include the salaries of the township secretary, which is up $2,800, and the police chief, which is up $10,300 to $84,500.
The highest expenditure in the budget continues to be public safety, which accounts for more than $2.4 million of the total expenses.
The supervisors are expected to approve the final budget at their December meeting.
