James A. McCommon, 69, of Butler passed away Thursday at Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Feb. 5, 1947, in Butler, the son of the late James Arthur McCommon and Stella (Materniak) McCommon.

James had worked at Witco-Exxon. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Scott, Marsha (Gilbert) Claypoole and Donna Hartle and her fiancé, Ray Hilliard, all of Butler; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; four sisters, Karen (Ron) Hartman of Butler, Sandy (Jerry) Day of Parker, Dorothy (Carl) Ealy of Herman, and Linda Desmond of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
