Leo J. Groves
Leo J. Groves, 88, of Fenelton, Pa., died Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler, following an illness.
He was born May 12, 1928, in Chicora, the son of the late Alvin Groves and Anna Easley Groves.
He worked at Penn Dixie Cement in West Winfield for 32 years. He then worked for Fleet Transport in Parker for nine years, then he worked at Fuellgraf Electric in Butler for 16 years, retiring in 2009.
Leo proudly kept his lawn well-manicured with his John Deere tractor and also delighted in collecting model John Deere tractors.
He married Naomi Beilstein Groves on June 23, 1947, and she died April 3, 2010.
Leo is survived by his son, Donald Groves, and his wife, Kay, of Butler; his daughter, Beverly McWilliams of Fenelton; five grandchildren, Casey Groves, Krista Davis, Dawn Pyle, Michael McWilliams and Mindy Silsley; six great-grandchildren, Cody Pyle, Christopher Pyle, Anthony and Jonathan Silsley, and George and Landon McWilliams; his great-great-grandson, Kaden Pyle; three sisters, Mary Pennington of Youngstown, Ohio, Martha Burns of Marshall, Mich., and Anita Kupec and her husband, Tom, of Canfield, Ohio.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Daryl K. McWilliams; and two brothers, Joe and John Groves.
GROVES — Friends of Leo J. Groves, who died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, will be received from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, downtown Chicora, with the Rev. Gary Smith, retired minister of the Church of the Nazarene of Zelienople, officiating.
