Charles Wimer

Charles Wimer, 74, of West Liberty, passed away peacefully Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot after a devastating battle with cancer.

Chuck was born Jan. 26, 1942, to Dewitt and Sylvia Campbell Wimer. He married Nancy English on June 5, 1962, with whom he had three children and spent the last 54 years of his life. 

He enjoyed farming both full-time and then later in his free time. For 50 years, he drove his truck long distance, giving him the opportunity to see most of the U.S. Nancy would often travel with him and they would head out west with a load and spend time with family when they could.

Chuck was an avid reader and enjoyed restoring tractors later in life.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of West Liberty; his son, Dan of West Liberty; his daughter, Laura Slaback and her husband, John, of Arizona; and one grandson, Daniel Norton. Chuck also is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ralph; his sister, Nora; and his oldest son, Cliff.

WIMER — As per the wishes of Charles Wimer, who died Tuesday Nov. 1, 2016, there will be no services.Arrangements are being handled by the Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock.
