Kenneth Joseph Meyer

Kenneth Joseph Meyer, 81, of Slippery Rock passed away at 3:30 a.m. Friday at the VNA Hospice.

He was born March 19, 1935, in Pittsburgh, and was the son of Paul L. Meyer and Elsie Wise-Meyer.

Ken was a farmer all of his life. He loved planting crops, watching them grow and harvesting them. He also loved raising animals.

He worked at US Steel and was a retired member of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company & Rescue Team.

Ken enjoyed dancing and country music, hunting and being with his children and grandchildren. He loved helping family and friends.

He is survived by three daughters, Doreen “Puddie” Taggart and her husband, David Taggart, Lori Hoffman and her fiancé, Dennis “Den” Long, both of Slippery Rock, and Debra “Debi” Girvin and her husband, William “Bill” Girvin, of North Chesterfield, Va.; his grandchildren, Ken Taggart and his wife, Tori, of Slippery Rock, Emily Hoffman, Samantha Hoffman and Sarah Hoffman, all of Pittsburgh; his stepgrandchildren, Mike Taggart, Jen Turner and Kristen Kordich and their families of Slippery Rock; two sisters, Mary Ann Dellich and her husband, George, and Grace Resek and her husband, John; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elsie Meyer; his brother, Paul F. Meyer; his son-in-law, Donald Hoffman; his niece, Cathy Meyer-Dambaugh; and his nephew, George “Butch” Dellich.

MEYER — A memorial service for Kenneth Joseph Meyer, who died Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Doug Turner.
