Woman charged for lewd actions
A woman — accompanied by a young child — raised a few eyebrows when she allegedly exposed herself to an inmate that she was visiting at the Butler County Prison last month.
The suspect, Adelina B. Burke, 24, of New Eagle, Washington County, also is accused of performing a sex act on herself during the visit Nov. 21.
Butler County detectives Thursday charged Burke with indecent exposure and corruption of minors, both first-degree misdemeanors.
The defendant, authorities said, arrived about 2 p.m. at the prison with a 4-year-old child to see an inmate. Court documents did not specify the relationship between Burke and the child or the inmate.
While in the visitation room, according to court documents, she “dropped her pants on a few occasions” and touched herself in a sexual manner.
Both the 36-year-old inmate she came to see and the child “could be seen watching Burke as she did this,” a detective’s affidavit said.
A corrections officer stopped the inappropriate exhibition. Investigators reviewed the surveillance video before filing charges.
Burke when contacted by telephone Dec. 9 at home admitted that she exposed herself at the request of the inmate, detectives said. She also acknowledged that the child could see her allegedly lewd behavior.
