Karns City edges Moniteau
Karns City connected on five free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Moniteau, 54-51, in boys basketball action Tuesday night.
Ian McElroy's free throw with 1:20 remaining gave the Gremlins (4-2) a five-point lead and the Warriors never threatened after that. Chandler Turner paced KC with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Noah Pollock contributed 15 points and seven rebounds for Karns City. Lake Pry had 15 points for Moniteau and Nate Sosigian added 11.
Freeport 56, Valley 47 — Evan Schaffhauser paced three Yellowjackets in double figures with 16 points. Ben Beale and Gavin Skradski added 12 each.
Freeport jumped out to an 18-6 lead in the first quarter.
Grove City 71, Conneaut 39 — Martin Beatty led the Eagles (2-1) with 14 points, Isaac Thrasher added 13 and Brayden Martin 10. Grove City built a 39-23 lead by halftime.
Sheets paced Conneaut with 11 points.
Union 51, A-C Valley 42 — Lucas Bowser scored 20 points and also had 14 rebounds as the Golden Knights beat the Falcons.
Union led throughout. A-C Valley made a run in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Knights held them off.
Kody Wolfe led the Falcons with 19 points.
Union improved to 2-3 overall.
