Celebrating kings and queens
The third annual Night to Shine dinner dance for individuals with mental and physical disabilities was held Friday night at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township.
The event treated 174 guests, 150 buddies and 95 volunteers to professional salon services, makeup, flowers and shoe shines before the event, and a red carpet entrance, dinner, limo rides and dancing that evening.
The band that performed at the event, Spectrum Band, is composed of individuals with autism. The Pittsburgh Steelers' Steely McBeam and the Penguins' Iceburgh also made appearances at the dinner dance.The highlight of the evening occurred at 8:30 p.m., when each special guest was crowned king or queen of the prom.The Night to Shine is made possible by CARES of Western Pennsylvania, Woodland Valley Church and the Tim Tebow Foundation. Several local companies also donated to provide services and dinner to attendees.
