Eve Martine Racaud, 63, of Petrolia passed away Sunday, surrounded by her family after battling breast cancer.

Eve was born March 18, 1953, in Casablanca, Morocco, to Viviane Brunet. She had been employed as a surgical technician at Butler Memorial Hospital. Eve also an artist and sculptor.

Eve is survived by her daughter, Maxime Racaud, and her husband, Tyler Bassett, of Petrolia; two sons, Timothy Gates and Michael Gates, both of Cranberry; and four grandchildren. Her sister, Emilienne Jeanperrin Claude of France, also survives.

Eve was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gates, and her son, Zechariah Racaud.
