Harriet A. Locher Vater
Harriet A. Locher Vater, 82, of Butler passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Mars, to the late Edward H. Locher and the late Mary Friel Locher.
Mrs. Vater was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. She worked for Hill's Department Store in Cranberry Township and retired in 1997. She then worked as a senior aide for the Butler County Housing Authority. Harriet enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, traveling, crafts and being with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Kisner and his wife, Ferne, and Kenneth Kisner and his wife, Sherrie; four daughters, Theresa Guthrie, Evelyn Bump and her husband, Thomas, Kathleen Lowers and Mary Jane Double and her husband, Jeffery; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and her sisters and brother, Mary Studeny and her husband, Joseph, Sarah Locher, Peggy Lester and her husband, Fred, and Stephen Locher and his wife, Stef.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas R. Kisner, who died Dec. 21, 1967; her second husband, Robert P. Vater, who died June 28, 1981; and two brothers, Patrick Locher and Edward J. Locher.
VATER — Friends of Harriet A. Locher Vater, who died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The bereavement committee of St. Fidelis Parish will conduct a prayer vigil at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with the Rev.
