Carl “Tom” Pieper
Carl “Tom” Pieper, 85, of the Saxonburg area, passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born Nov. 25, 1931, in Union City, Pa., he was the son of the late Carl A. Pieper and Bessie Fay Pieper.
He graduated from Union City High School in 1949. Tom was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He spent most of his working years in sales and was a custodian at Clinton Elementary, South Butler School District, before his retirement. He also worked part time at the Butler Auto Auction for 17 years. He was a member of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he was previously an elder, a life member of Union City VFW 6773, and the Saxonburg American Legion 683. Tom was an avid sports fan, especially high school sports, enjoyed traveling on bus trips and playing cards. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and helping to play Santa Claus.
Surviving are a son, David E. (Desi) Pieper of Tionesta, Pa.; daughters, Darlene (Chuck) Borton of Spring Creek, Pa., and Diana (Roy) Nelson of Natrona Heights; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Sally) Pieper of Alabama, his longtime best friend, Lil Bachman of Saxonburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce A. Mitchell Pieper, who he married June 6, 1953; his daughter, Debbie Pieper Haugh; a brother and three sisters.
PIEPER — Friends of Carl “Tom” Pieper, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev.
