SRU lacrosse team stays undefeated

Slippery Rock University’s Tia Torchia and Caitlynn Palladino scored the game’s final two goals as The Rock upended visiting East Stroudsburg, 12-10, in women’s lacrosse play on Sunday.

SRU (6-0, 3-0) is now the only undefeated team in the PSAC.

Torchia, Palladino and Bre Vodde each scored three goals in the victory. Emily Bitka made 10 saves in net.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Slippery Rock High School graduate and Slippery Rock University senior track and field runner Ryan Thompson broke SRU’s 1,500-meter record at the Raleigh Relays over the weekend.

Thompson ran the event in three minutes, 48.20 seconds, snapping the previous mark of 3:50:38 set by Morgan Elliott in 2014. He finished 14th out of 103 runners in the event and was the top-finishing non-Division I athlete.
