City woman faces theft charges

Tiffany Hilliard
She is a person of interest in homicide case

BUTLER TWP — A woman who was arrested by Butler city police last week after she was found inside a homicide victim's car, was shoplifting at Walmart about one hour earlier, police say.

Tiffany N. Hilliard, 30, of Butler was charged Wednesday by township police with felony retail theft and felony criminal conspiracy. The incident involved the theft of diapers and a potty training seat from the Butler Commons Walmart on March 24.

Hilliard and Joshua K. Greaves, 34, of Mercer were named earlier this week by the Butler County District Attorney Rich Goldinger as persons of interest in the killing of Gregory Bosko of Kittanning.

The incident at Walmart happened shortly after 7 p.m.

Hilliard and Jessica L. Trinkley, 29, of Butler Township entered the store and placed two large boxes of diapers and the training seat in their cart, according to the criminal complaint. Police reviewed surveillance footage, which court documents show them walking past all points of sale and going to the returns department.

Since they did not have a receipt, Trinkley provided her driver's license for the return and they were issued a store gift card for $100.02, which the store was able to cancel after they left the store, according to the complaint.

Since Hilliard has two prior convictions for retail theft, this new charge is a felony.

Trinkley also will be charged in connection with the incident, according to court records.

About one hour later, Butler city police were dispatched to investigate suspicious activity on West Wayne Street. Hilliard, Greaves and another female were found inside a 1991 Dodge Dynasty, which city police later learned belonged to Bosko, who had been reported missing to Kittanning police on March 20.

Police say Hilliard and Greaves initially gave fake names, though officers learned their real names and discovered they both were wanted on bench warrants.

Police have said Greaves also had three stamp bags of heroin on his person, according to court records. Both are being held on bail in Butler County Prison.

State police are continuing to investigate Bosko's death, which was ruled a homicide by the county coroner, and would not name suspects in the case as of Wednesday.
