Woman allegedly ODs while watching cousins
A Cranberry woman is facing charges after allegedly overdosing on heroin while watching her younger cousins.
Tyler Jordan Duffy, 22, waived to county court April 7 two counts of child endangerment and one charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She will be arraigned May 16 in county court.
Two counts of recklessly endangering another person were withdrawn.
Officers from Cranberry Township police responded around 3 p.m. March 28 to the report of an unconscious female at a residence on Rowan Road, according to court documents. Cranberry Township EMS found Duffy lying on the kitchen floor, in and out of consciousness, extremely confused and bleeding from her nose, police said.
While speaking with the EMS crew, Duffy admitted to snorting half a bag of heroin. She later retrieved for police the empty stamp bag that she used, police said.
Duffy had been left in charge of her two younger cousins, ages 12 and 4, who were sick with pneumonia while her aunt ran errands, police said. While watching her cousins, Duffy snorted the heroin and subsequently passed out in the kitchen, leaving the children unsupervised, according to court documents.
The 12-year-old cousin found Duffy and notified a neighbor, who called 911.
