Adele Berman

Adele Berman, 87, of Portersville passed away Friday at New Haven Court, Butler.

Born May 2, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Rebecca Lemo Yanuck. She was Jewish.

Adele retired as a phlebotomist and executive secretary after 30 years of working at the Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She moved to this area to be near her daughter, where she will be remembered for volunteering at the Prospect Community Library in all aspects and also teaching kids to knit.

She was a member of Keenagers, the senior citizen group of Portersville, where she enjoyed bus travel trips. She loved making many different needle crafts and she had a long history of winning first-place blue ribbons for these crafts at local fairs. She enjoyed dancing, reading and going to movies.

While living at New Haven Court, she served as head of council and advocate for her follow residents in the “peer” group, and she enjoyed teaching knitting to other residents and employees. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Barry (Karen) Berman of Sewell, N.J., and Dr. Mindyanne Berman of Portersville; her grandchildren, Katie, Becky, Zach, Rachel, Mark and Stephanie; one brother, Bernie (Joy) Yanuck of Tamarack, Fla.; and her nieces and nephews, Kenny, Donna, Michael and Suzanne.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her one true love, her husband, Irwin Berman, who died March 5, 1999.

BERMAN — Visitation for Adele Berman, who died Friday, March 3, 2017, will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev.
