Shirley Joan Maire, 84, of Butler died Saturday at the Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Born March 20, 1933, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Paul Bowser Sr. and Helen Wolfe Bowser.

Joan was a homemaker and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler and American Legion Auxiliary Post 778 in Lyndora. She had loved to dance, camping, play bingo and mostly spend time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, John F. Maire Sr., whom she married June 1, 1951; three children, Wallace (Sue Saparat) Maire, Richard (Lucy) Maire and Tina Morrison; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews; and one sister, Becky (Tom) Stotish.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Maire Jr.; one brother, Butch Bowser; and one sister, Dorothy Hempfling.

MAIRE — Friends of Shirley Joan Maire, who died Saturday, April 8, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E.
