2 county swimmers join Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG — Senior swimmers Joe Deemer of Butler and Mari Reott of Slippery Rock will continue their academic and swimming careers at Shippensburg University.
Both are four-year high school letterwinners.
Deemer was named Butler team MVP as a sophomore and senior. He thrives in the butterfly and freestyle events and qualified for the PIAA meet this year in the 100-yard butterfly. He graduated with a 4.31 grade point average.
Reott excels in the backstroke and butterfly and was a three-time state qualifier. She made first team all-region in the 100-yard backstroke and graduated as valedictorian of her class with a 4.4 GPA.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior defensive end Marcus Martin has been named first team Preseason All-American by Linsy’s Sports.
Martin is the only PSAC player named to the first team.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Martin is the all-time SRU and PSAC career sack and tackles for loss record holder at 40.5 and 66.0, respectively. He is six sacks shy of the Division II career record and 11 tackles for loss shy of the Division II mark.
