Gladys Marie Sickle, 84, of Portersville passed away peacefully Friday into the arms of the Lord with the support of her family after a brief illness.

She was born June 10, 1932, in Portersville Borough, to Steiner John Bauder and Violet Bertha Barkley.

She had a wonderful marriage to the love of her life, Richard Eugene Sickle, who she wed Dec. 16, 1950.

She was a homemaker and worked outside the home at numerous jobs that provided her with a lifetime of memories, stories and special friendships. She enjoyed preparing pies, which her family believed to be the world's best. She most enjoyed her family and watching them grow. They provided her with a lifetime of love and happiness. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy and love.

She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, who she adored. She enjoyed going to church, doing for others, spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, family picnics, watching the Pirates, shopping and going to dinner with friends and family.

Gladys is survived by two sons, Richard S. Sickle of Portersville and Daniel J. (Patti) Sickle of Butler; her daughter, Stacy L. (Travis) Croll of Slippery Rock; her sister, Joyce A. (Lanny) Campbell of Slippery Rock; her grandchildren, Trisha J. Sickle, Danielle M. (Grant) Gabal, Jeffrey R. Croll and Stephanie M. Croll; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, Josephine and Trenton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard E. Sickle, who died Dec. 18, 1993; and two brothers, James and George (Jake) Bauder.

SICKLE — The family of Gladys Marie Sickle, who died Friday, May 12, 2017, will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville, 1297 Perry Highway, Portersville.A memorial service will be observed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Dana Opp presiding.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Portersville Presbyterian Church Keenagers program.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Smith Funeral Home of Slippery Rock.
