Three arrested and charged in machete robbery
A suspected machete-wielding robber and two alleged accomplices were arrested this morning after luring a woman to a Butler apartment, city police said.
The alleged victim ended up at Butler Memorial Hospital with cuts to her neck and hand, and other injuries. She also had more than $200 stolen out of her bra.
Butler police nabbed the suspects even before the crime was reported, following a traffic stop in connection with an unrelated investigation.
Charged in connection with the alleged armed holdup were Tiffany
Ann Crawford, 31, Michelle L. Kaiser, 46, and Anthony F. Perez, 40, all of Butler They are all being held in the Butler County Prison.
Kaiser is accused of calling 28-year-old Tiffany Mullen of Butler and asking her to come to her second-story apartment on West Wayne Street, police said.
Mullen apparently believed that she was going there to pick up the television set that she had loaned. But once she entered the apartment, according to court documents, she realized it was a setup.
She recounted that “all of a sudden there was a machete up against her throat,” a police affidavit, and another knife near her.
Crawford allegedly had the machete and Perez was holding the knife.
A full report will appear in tomorrow's Butler Eagle.
